Therapeutic Massage

Unsure of what treatment is best for you? Booking a therapeutic massage is the easiest way to ensure your massage is tailored to your needs at the time of your appointment. We never give the same massage twice. Your session may include any modality that your therapist is trained in, such as Swedish massage, deep tissue, myofascial release, cupping, GuaSha, reflexology, TuiNa, Thai massage, etc. There is no extra cost associated with add on modalities. Your therapist will build a plan with you, taking into consideration your medical history, your current symptoms, and your future goals.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping is simply a way for your massage therapist to provide negative pressure to your body's tissue. Traditional massage is all positive pressure; your massage therapist is adding pressure to your muscles and connective tissue. Cupping provides the opposite force. It is not painful, in fact many people say it feels similar to deep tissue work. Cupping is not a stand alone therapy, but would be included in a therapeutic massage session.

Reflexology

Reflexology can be incredibly therapeutic; by stimulating points and areas on your feet (or hands) your massage therapist can relax your entire body. This modality may be part of a larger treatment plan or a stand alone therapy. Since reflexology does not require you to disrobe or lay flat, it is especially great for populations who have difficulty getting on and off a massage table.

Thai Massage

Thai massage differs from deep tissue and Swedish massage in several ways. First, it does not require you to disrobe and instead of the massage table, a floor mat is used. Second, it consists of more compression and stretching. No oil is used during this type of massage. It is a good choice for people who prefer not to disrobe, people who's main goal is flexibility and mobility, or people who never seem to get enough pressure from a traditional massage.

Facial Cupping Therapy

Facial cupping therapy can have many benefits. Cosmetically, it can reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and facial folds. It can provide a face lift, plump lips, and drain excess fluid from the face. Therapeutically, it can decrease tension in the head, neck, and face, decrease the intensity of headaches, and decrease pain from TMJ disorders. Facial cupping can be a stand alone session (30 min) or it can be added during a therapeutic massage session.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Manual lymphatic drainage is designed to promote the circulation of lymph fluid. Unlike your cardiovascular system, your lymphatic system does not have a built in pump. Lymph relies on mechanical stimulation to move through your body. This technique is designed to assist your body's natural abilities and improve lymph flow. It is especially helpful for people who have chronic lymphedema, or those who have recently had surgery.
